The Morning Ritual
The Cash Line on Your Statement Is a Product. It Was Priced for the House.
Markets are closed today. No session, no prices, nothing to trade. So I poured the coffee and opened the one screen that still pays on a federal holiday. Not the holdings. The cash.
There is a line on that screen you have scrolled past a hundred times. It says cash, or core position, or free credit balance. It has a yield attached to it. A friend of mine found his by accident last spring. It read `0.01%`, and it had read that for years.
In One Sip
► Both exchanges are shut for Labor Day, and the bond market with them. In the fine print, a business day means the exchange and the New York Fed are both open. Today is neither.
► Schwab is one of the largest brokers in the country. It told affected clients their brokerage cash leaves the FDIC bank sweep between September 8 and December 7.
► The replacement is a house option called Schwab One Interest. The yield quoted in that notice was `0.01%`, the same as the sweep it replaces.
► The Fed has held its target range at `3.50%` to `3.75%` all year. Fidelity, another of the big brokers, posted a `3.33%` seven day yield on its government money fund on August 27.
► Switch your cash option and you can give up a business day or two of interest. Your broker earns and keeps what your money makes during that gap. Its own disclosure says so.

No one has told you about it or prepared you for it…
A dollar reset on this scale has happened just once before in our 250-year history.
That was back in 1974, with a secret deal struck in a Saudi desert that quietly determined the financial fate of an entire generation of Americans.
It created extraordinary wealth for some, while casting millions more into relative poverty.
Now, 52 years later, it's happening again.
And I’d like to show you how to prepare for it, while there’s still time.
My name is Porter Stansberry.
I'm the founder of one of the largest independent financial research firms in the world. Over the last 30 years we've helped hundreds of thousands of Americans navigate almost every major economic cycle.
We've been on the forefront of every big financial story: from the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the rise of Bitcoin, the COVID inflation surge, and the artificial intelligence revolution.
But today, I need to expose a story the likes of which we haven't seen in half a century.
And as you'll see, the aftershock of this event could reset not just your personal wealth, but the entire foundation of the U.S. dollar.
How you save, how you invest, how you protect everything you've built… it's all being reshaped by what Fortune calls "the biggest change to the world's relationship with the dollar" in a generation.
Yet almost nobody is prepared for it.
So if you've been watching the chaos of the past year unfold, struggling to make sense of it all: you're about to get the answers you've been searching for.
Everything from the government taking direct equity stakes in tiny mining companies… to Trump's obsession with Greenland… his strange deals with Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Sam Altman, and Mark Zuckerberg… the re-opening of shuttered nuclear plants… and a $12 billion stockpile of obscure metals most Americans have never heard of…
It's all deeply and inexorably connected to an inescapable fact no one has prepared you for:
His shocking money reset has bypassed all conventional channels: enacted instead through a series of executive orders, bi-lateral deals, and a landmark treaty signed by 13 nations in December 2025 (barely reported in the press) called Pax Silica.
You need to know that the financial decisions you make in the face of Trump's New Dollar could dictate whether you're enriched, or quietly impoverished by the seismic shift already underway.
The stocks to buy. The assets to avoid. And the critical moves our research indicates you should make to ensure you and your family end up on the right side of this once-in-a-generation wealth divide…

Why It Matters for Your Money
Run it on a number you recognize. Say `$25,000` sits in the account between decisions, the way it does for most of us.
`$2.50` a year at `0.01%`.
`$832` a year at `3.33%`.
Same money. Same login. Nothing changed but the box.
That gap is +`$830` a year on money you were not investing anyway. Move the decimal and it gets harder to shrug off. On `$100,000` of idle cash the two boxes pay `$10` and `$3,330`. Read that number again. A year in the default hands back -`$3,320` without one bad trade.
Your mortgage is priced by the market. So is your grocery bill. The cash line is priced by whatever your broker decides its own business conditions allow.
The Wealth Angle
Here is where it gets interesting. That idle cash is not sitting still. Schwab’s disclosure says free credit balances can fund margin loans to its other customers. That is cheaper for the firm than borrowing the money elsewhere. The affiliated banks lend the swept deposits out. The spread is the product.
Further down, that document sets the ceiling on your yield. Deposit rates can be set “as low as possible consistent with prevailing market and business conditions.” Nothing leaked. It is published, and it has been sitting there the whole time. That is the sentence I was reading over my coffee this morning.
Two things can be true. The bank sweep carries federal deposit insurance up to `$250,000` per bank, and a money fund carries none. SIPC, the industry fund that steps in when a broker fails, covers `$500,000` per customer with `$250,000` of that for cash. If you need the money Wednesday to settle a trade, the sweep earns its keep.
I still read `0.01%` as a price, not a service.
☕ Key Insight:
Your broker is not required to tell you when a better paying cash option opens up on your own screen. That is in the disclosure, in plain English. One login is worth more than any trade you will place this week.
Coffee Break Move
Nothing settles today, so today is for the reading and tomorrow is for the click. Log in. Find the line that says cash, core position, or cash feature. Write the yield next to it on the back of an envelope.
If you are comfortable: put that yield beside the government money fund inside the same account. If the gap runs more than a point, move the part you are not spending this month. Leave the rest where it clears fast.
If you are stretched: on `$2,000` the gap is about +`$66` a year. Check anyway. `$66` is not life changing. It is also not theirs.
The market took the day off. The spread did not.
