The Rule You Thought Protected You Was Removed in February
Eight months ago the federal click to cancel rule stopped existing. Not paused, not delayed. On February 12 the FTC put the old text back into the Code of Federal Regulations. The version that would have forced every company to let you cancel the way you signed up went away.
Most people never heard. The rule got a year of headlines on the way in and almost none on the way out. If you have been assuming a federal law stands between you and a subscription that will not let go, it does not.
In One Sip
► The Eighth Circuit threw out the FTC click to cancel rule in July 2025. The FTC formally restored the older, narrower rule on February 12, 2026
► Two federal laws still apply. ROSCA requires a simple way to stop recurring online charges, and Section 5 of the FTC Act bars deceptive cancellation practices
► Your state may cover the rest. Around 35 states and Washington DC now have automatic renewal laws of their own
► New York City’s own click to cancel rule took effect on October 1. It bars making you give a reason before you cancel
► Enforcement did not stop. Adobe agreed to a proposed $150 million order in March and Shutterstock to $35 million in May

Elon Musks One Stock Retirement Plan
Legendary investor Stanley Druckenmiller once said:
“You don’t get rich by diversifying into 50 mediocre assets. You get rich by finding two or three asymmetric home runs.”
Jeff Brown just found this NEW asymmetric home run he calls “Elon Musk’s One Stock Retirement Plan.”

Why It Matters for Your Money
Pull a single statement and count the recurring lines. Streaming, storage, the gym, a security system, two apps you forgot.
Say five of them average $14 a month. That is $70 a month and $840 a year, moving without anyone deciding anything.
One cancelled line at $14 is $168 back over a year. Two is $336.
That is the arithmetic, and it is the easy part. The hard part is that these things are built so the cancelling costs you more effort than the keeping.
The Wealth Angle
Here is what changed underneath, and it matters more than the headline.
Protection stopped being federal and became local. The rules you can actually use now depend on your address, not your citizenship.
Connecticut requires an annual reminder for every auto renewing contract as of July. Maryland requires a prominent cancel link as of June. Colorado requires one click cancellation for anything sold online.
New York requires advance notice and your consent before a price increase, with a prorated refund if you then cancel.
My read: that last one is the quiet winner. Most subscriptions do not hurt at sign up. They hurt on the third renewal, after two increases you never opened an email about.

Editor’s Note: Larry Benedict, the hedge fund legend who beat the S&P 500 by 18 times in 2025 and made his clients $95 million during the 2008 crisis, says Trump’s installation of a new Federal Reserve chair is triggering the most significant shift in U.S. markets in nearly 20 years. He has already identified the one ticker he believes will be at the center of the money flows, and he’s revealing it completely free. Click here to see the details or read more below…

Dear Reader,
You could have the chance to make big gains from the Federal Reserve’s next move…
But if you wait until its October 28 announcement, you could miss it.
Click here to see the ticker I’m watching, because the money may start moving before Warsh announces their decision.
He’s just raised rates for the first time in more than three years…
The Fed has already signaled another hike could be on the way…
Which means you have a brief window of opportunity to get positioned in one ticker I know very well.
In fact, with this ticker, even a small movement in it can more than double your money.
For example, in January 2022, as the Fed prepared to raise rates, this ticker moved just 4%.
But readers who followed my trade had the chance to make 117% in under a month.
If I’m right, the setup that’s forming could be even bigger this time around.
And you can get started with as little as $300.
I give away the name of the ticker in my short briefing.
Regards,
Larry Benedict

P.S. The trade could start taking shape before the next Fed announcement so it’s critical you are positioned before October 28. See my free pick and learn how to position here.

☕ Key Insight:
A rule being struck down does not mean you lost the protection. It means the protection moved, and the new address never reached you. Your state attorney general’s website now does the job the FTC page used to do.

Dear Friend,
One island makes 72.5% of the world’s computer chips.
It sits about 80 miles from China’s navy.
The biggest navy on earth.
And China doesn’t even have to invade.
One blockade, without firing a shot, could cripple the world overnight.
The price of everything with a chip inside could double.
Even triple.
The CIA says Xi told his military to be ready by 2027.
Dylan Jovine has four moves to make before then.
Including the one company finishing America’s chips. Apple’s its first big customer.
He’s sending all four reports free.

Open your bank app and filter the last statement for anything that repeats. Ten minutes, and most people find at least one line they cannot explain.
Cancel one today. Not the hardest one, the easiest one, because the first cancellation proves the other four are possible.
For the ones you keep, find the renewal date and write it on the calendar two weeks early. That is the window where notice rules in most states are supposed to reach you.
Say a company makes you call, keeps you on hold, or demands a survey before you can leave. Check your state’s automatic renewal law before you give up. In a growing number of states that behaviour is the company’s problem now, not yours.
The leak is small by design. That is exactly why it runs all year.
